General

1) What is Letteris?

Letteris is an AI‑powered app to scan physical letters, organize them in an inbox, generate summaries, set reminders, and chat with your mail — while keeping the original PDFs and text stored privately in your iCloud Drive.

2) Where are my letters stored?

Your scanned letters, PDFs, and summaries are stored in your personal iCloud Drive under your Apple ID. Letteris does not host your documents on Amelix servers.

3) Can I access letters on multiple devices?

Yes, as long as you use the same Apple ID and have iCloud Drive enabled for Letteris on those devices.

4) Does Letteris work offline?

Scanning and saving works offline. AI features (summaries/chat) require internet access.

5) Which platforms are supported?

Letteris supports iOS/iPadOS. (Android/web may be considered in the future.)

Features

6) What can I do with a scanned letter?

View the sender, an AI summary, suggested actions, set reminders, add calendar deadlines, chat with the letter, share the PDF, and assign categories.

7) How does the chat feature work?

Chat lets you ask questions about a scanned letter or request simpler explanations. (Currently English only.)

8) Can I search across all my letters?

Yes. Use search to find letters by keywords (e.g., “bill”, “loan”, or a sender name).

9) How do I delete a letter permanently?

Delete moves a letter to Trash; empty Trash to permanently remove it from your inbox. You can also remove the PDF from iCloud Drive if needed.

10) Does Letteris support reminders and calendars?

Yes. You can set reminders and add deadlines to Calendar (with default notifications, e.g., 7 days and 1 day before).

Privacy & Security

11) Does Letteris share my data with third parties?

Letteris does not sell or monetize your data. Your letters and PDFs remain in iCloud Drive. Minimal account and usage metadata is stored in Firebase (for auth/credits). Extracted text is sent to OpenAI to generate summaries/chat responses. According to OpenAI’s API policy, these inputs/outputs are not used for training. See our Privacy Policy for details.

12) How long are letters kept?

Letteris enforces an auto‑deletion policy against your iCloud content: 24 months by default or 12 months if you select it in Account settings. Old letters are permanently deleted.

13) Can I change the retention period?

Yes. In Account → Data retention, choose 12 or 24 months. Letters older than your chosen window are deleted automatically.

14) What happens when I delete my account?

Your Firebase account data (credits, preferences, acceptance records) is removed from active systems. Your letters are in iCloud — you can delete those at any time from Files.

15) Is my data encrypted?

Yes. iCloud encrypts your files in transit and at rest. Firebase uses industry‑standard security. We use HTTPS for all API communication.

Billing & Legal

16) How does billing work?

Purchase credit packs via Apple In‑App Purchases; scans/chats deduct credits. Balances sync between StoreKit and Firebase.

17) A purchase didn’t show up — what should I do?

Check connectivity and try again. Purchases typically sync within seconds. Logging and idempotency checks help prevent duplicates or missed credits.

18) Are purchases refundable?

Generally non‑refundable unless required by law. For App Store refunds, contact Apple Support.

19) What law governs disputes?

California law and the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA). Most disputes go to binding JAMS arbitration; small‑claims court remains an option.

20) Can I opt out of arbitration?

Yes. Within 30 days of first accepting the Terms, email privacy@amelixsolutions.com with the subject “Arbitration Opt‑Out”.
